Recap and Updates

Writing this to keep track of everything has been good, and I’m glad I’ve been doing it. I do think that when I am in the moment of not doing what I want to be doing (accomplishing my goals) and spending it on work (i.e. day job) instead is frustrating.

Without a doubt, I have not been accomplishing nearly anything related to my side businesses at all, other than coming up with my initial idea and direction.

On the other hand, I have been killing it at my day job. I have not been here even a year, and I got a 30%+ raise during review season pushing me to over $200k/yr.

Nights that I totally can and should be working on my own projects, it’s so easy to just keep working on “work”. Not only do I genuinely enjoy my job and enjoy writing software, but it’s also making a nice salary.

I need to dig down, take it a step at a time, and just accomplish 1 main thing a week

This is the idea behind deliberate practice – the activity should be just beyond your current skill level. Not so hard that you get frustrated and quit, but not so easy that you can breeze right through, either. The exercises in this book are designed around that idea, to push you a little outside your comfort zone and make you think.

New Weekly Goals

  • not unlocking (work) computer content/site locks unless for certain things (mainly as links in emails)
  • completing x unit of measurement of my 3 courses per day
  • completing x unit of measurement of building my side project
